10 Reasons Newlyweds Should Budget

I know I haven't posted in a while, but I was thinking recently about what a good thing budgets are, and how good it has been for us as newlyweds to do one every month. So here are the 10 reasons I came up with, I'm sure there are more, you can let us know what you think in the comments.

1. It establishes an open and trusting relationship, not just about money, but about everything

2. It allows you to see reality, chances are one of you thinks things are much better and one of you
thinks things are much worse than they really are, through budgeting you can both come to see the truth

3. It encourages you in your work, to see things as they really are encourages you in the work you do, it puts a name to the dollars you earn

4. It eliminates arguments during the month by causing them all to happen in one civil conversation

5. It puts each of your wants into perspective against the family's needs

6. It establishes a pattern of planning and saving for future needs and wants

7. It causes you to know where you money is going before it goes

8. It makes you appreciate what each person does to both earn and save money

9. It leaves a written (or electronic) trail that you can trace if you need to (and someday you will need to)

10. It makes you LOVE each other more!
